SMA is excited to announce a two virtual research methods workshops in collaboration with CARMA:

Strategies for Overcoming Common Methodological Pitfalls-A Conversation with JOM Editors

The purpose of this workshop is to help scholars anticipate and avoid common methodological issues in designing and presenting their research for publication. The workshop will feature a distinguished panel of associate editors: Rebecca Greenbaum (micro/OB/HR), Aaron Hill (macro/strategy), Jim Combs (entrepreneurship) and led by JOM Editor Brian Connelly. The panelists will discuss common methods problems they observe in JOM submissions and share some tips for overcoming them. The workshop will also include an interactive Q&A session with the panel and concludes with final thoughts from Dr. Connelly.

Advice from the SMA Fellows for Building Your Research Program

The purpose of this workshop is to provide sound advice for learning methods, establishing good methods practices, and setting up a productive pipeline of scholarship. The workshop will feature a distinguished panel of SMA fellows: Dave Ketchen, Charles Pierce, Lisa Schurer Lambert, Jeremy Short, Paul Spector, Robert Vandenberg, and Shaker Zahra. Additional topics to be discussed by the panel include strategies for managing one’s research, engaging with journal editors and reviewers, and leveraging the research methods community in an early career. The workshop will conclude with an interactive Q&A session.
