Call for Consortia Coordinators

The SMA Board is soliciting nominations for three appointed positions: Doctoral Consortium Coordinator, Pre-doctoral Consortium Coordinator, and Faculty Consortium Coordinator.

Doctoral Consortium Coordinator

The Doctoral Consortium Coordinator begins a three-year commitment to the Doctoral Consortia Committee. The appointee will serve the first year coordinating the early stage consortium, the second year coordinating the late-stage consortium, and one year as consortium committee chairperson. 

Responsibilities include organizing consortia, developing the agenda, securing speakers, conducting the consortia, obtaining feedback from the participants, and relaying this feedback to the SMA Board. The ideal candidate will have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the strategic initiatives and diversity goals of SMA. In addition, the nominating committee – comprised of outgoing consortia coordinators and the program chair-elect – will apply the following criteria in recommending nominees for appointment by the Board:

  1. Contributions to the field of management, including respect and reputation among colleagues in the field.
  2. Involvement in past SMA activities and service, including reviewing papers, chairing sessions, presenting or discussing papers, being a track chair, and serving in leadership roles.
  3. Reputation for conscientiousness and dependability.
  4. Experience working with doctoral students.

You may nominate a colleague or self-nominate. However, if nominating a colleague, you must obtain and document the nominee’s agreement.

Pre-Doctoral Consortium Coordinator

The Pre-Doctoral Student Consortium Coordinator position is a one-year commitment and includes responsibilities such as soliciting and accepting applicants, organizing the pre-doctoral consortium, developing the agenda, securing speakers, conducting the consortium, and obtaining feedback from the participants.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity goals and strategic initiatives of SMA. In addition, the nominating committee – comprised of outgoing consortium coordinators and the program chair-elect – will apply the following criteria in recommending nominees for appointment by the Board:

  1. Contributions to the field of management, including respect and reputation among colleagues in the field.
