Call for SMA Doctoral Student Consortium Coordinator
The SMA Board is soliciting nominations for the appointed position of Doctoral Student Consortium Coordinator. The Doctoral Consortium Coordinator begins a three-year commitment to the Doctoral Consortia Committee. The appointee will serve as
- Coordinator-Elect: After being selected (by early April), coordinator-elect serves as shadow to the late-stage doctoral consortium coordinator.
- Late-Stage Doctoral Coordinator: During the second year, the appointee will coordinate the late-stage doctoral consortium (while being shadowed by a new appointee).
- Early-Stage Doctoral Coordinator: During the final year, the appointee will coordinate the early-stage consortium.
Responsibilities include organizing consortia, developing the agenda, securing speakers, conducting the consortia, obtaining feedback from the participants, and relaying this feedback to the SMA Board. The ideal candidate will have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the strategic initiatives and diverse goals of SMA. In addition, the nominating committee – comprised of outgoing consortia coordinators and the program chair-elect – will apply the following criteria in recommending nominees for appointment by the Board:
- Contributions to the field of management, including respect and reputation among colleagues in the field.
- Involvement in past SMA activities and service, including reviewing papers, chairing sessions, presenting or discussing papers, being a track chair, and serving in leadership roles.
- Reputation for conscientiousness and dependability.
- Experience working with doctoral students.
Self- or other-nominations are acceptable. However, if nominating a colleague, you must first obtain and document the nominee’s agreement to be nominated.
