Membership Benefits
The Southern Management Association provides many services and opportunities for its members. Our annual membership dues are $36 and the annual membership runs from August 16th until August 15th of the next year.
Annual Conference. The most notable service provided by SMA is its annual fall meeting at which competitive as well as invited papers are presented and discussed. These meetings are attended by approximately 500 participants and provide an excellent opportunity for management educators and management practitioners to meet professionally and socially in a relaxed yet stimulating environment. All papers presented at the meeting are published in the Proceedings and distributed to those in attendance. This publication annually represents an outstanding compilation of academic research available to educators and practitioners in the field of management. In addition, all papers are evaluated and the outstanding regular and student papers receive “Best Paper Awards”. In conjunction with the annual meeting, a pre-convention Faculty and Doctoral Student Consortium provides opportunities for attendees to interact with accomplished scholars and teachers, and to develop professional networks. You must be a member of SMA to attend this conference. Attend the Annual Conference
Journal of Management. SMA, in conjunction with SAGE Publications, produces the internationally recognized Journal of Management. It is issued seven times a year and distributed to all SMA members. The Journal of Management highlights outstanding theoretical and empirical research contributions to the field of management. You may choose to receive a hard copy of the Journal or digital distribution. Learn More about Journal of Management
CARMA. SMA has enjoyed a special relationship with CARMA (Consortium for the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis) for a long time. Larry Williams, CARMA founder, does workshops at our meetings and has been a treasured member of SMA for many years. This relationship has led to the CARMA-SMA Affiliate program, which provides access to much of CARMA’s content, including recorded lectures, live events, and a discount on short courses about research methods.
